TJ Mitchell Fife, age 26, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, after a courageous and long battle with depression.
TJ was born in Bellingham, Washington on April 3, 1989.
TJ was involved in athletics from an early age. His passion was basketball, he also played baseball, football, golf, and bowled. In baseball TJ played outfield and was also a pitcher. He played on a Babe Ruth Baseball team that was state champions in 2002. He attended Sehome High school, where he played baseball and was on the State Champion team in 2007. Also the Bellingham Post 7 baseball team that year which went to the Senior American Legion World Series in Bartlesville, OK. In college TJ was a walk on to the baseball team at Brigham Young University, but had to abandon his baseball career due to a shoulder injury.
TJ attended Whatcom Community College, Brigham Young University and Peru State College, where he obtained a degree in Accounting.
He interned with the local accounting firm Larson Gross.
TJ’s great passion was athletic shoes. He owned dozens of pairs of shoe. He studied their design, style and manufacture. The pinnacle of his working career was his dream job, working at Adidas North American headquarters.
TJ loved gourmet cooking, watching cooking programs and recreating the dishes. He was especially good at making sauces and homemade pasta.
TJ is known for his infectious smile and sense of humor. Laughing was always present if TJ was there. He also loved to do voice impersonations. TJ was a competitor, regardless of the activity, be it sports, cooking, researching shoes, plays in school. It was always done with intensity.
TJ is survived by his fiancée, Gina Christensen of Portland; his parents Terry & Doreen Fife of Bellingham; his sister Valerie and her husband, Jeremy Swayne and his daughter Jeslynn Swayne of Bellingham; his brother Shawn and his wife, Melissa and their daughter, Hartley, also of Bellingham; his grandparents, Garry and Karen Fife of Nyssa, Oregon, and Sam and Juanita Mori of Ontario, Oregon; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015, 1pm, At the LDS chapel, 2925 James Street, Bellingham, WA.
