Barbara Ann Stegner

Barbara Ann Stegner, née Usery, born October 10, 1957, passed away at her home in Mount Vernon, Washington, on January 20, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Barbara was born in Rangely, Colorado, and raised in Cortez, Colorado, where she graduated from high school. She went on to attend Salt Lake City Community College, and later worked as a surgical technician in the operating rooms of Utah Valley Hospital, Swedish Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Medical Center, and Skagit Valley Hospital. Barbara was highly regarded by surgeons for her aptitude in assisting with complex surgical procedures. She was known for her hard work, dedication, and professionalism throughout her career.

In her free time, Barbara was a keen gardener, yearly expanding the area of her flower beds. Barbara was a rockhound, and likely would’ve repurposed the bulk of her yard for a rock garden if the Pacific Northwest climate was more cooperative. She was also fond of reading, crocheting, watching sports, and playing bunko monthly with a group of friends. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Above all else, Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her children, and was always available to offer guidance, support, or encouragement.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Austin; her children, Linnea and Andre; and her siblings, Dawna Palmer, Charles Usery, and Thomas Usery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Usery and Helene Usery (née Nyberg).

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1700 E. Hazel Street in Mount Vernon, Washington.

Flowers may be sent on the day of the service to 1700 E. Hazel Street, Mount Vernon, Washington.
